Very nicely lined up indeed! Great to see this classic old Santa Fe!

What a photo, thanks for posting Joe!

Diesel spotters alert, please find the oldest unit in this photo. It is an SD-24, don't cheat and use an (ATSF) locomotive roster as there is a Roof Top spotting feature. The Old Timers will get this easily, the Youngsters probably not so easily. Also does anyone want to guess the age of the red Pontiac in the parking area. These could not have been posed any better if someone had tried, three units, four units and three units. Very nicely captured Joe, please keep these coming.

Fantastic shot from a REAL railroad back in the day!

Diesel spotters response, The SD24 is the second unit out on the center train. The spotting feature that gives it away is the "torpedo tube" air tanks on the roof of the unit. As for the Pontiac, I have no clue. Oh, and by the way, I'm only 17.

I think the red Poncho is a 1961 or other early '60's.

I guess the poncho at 1960 or 61, how bout?

Beautiful shot Joe!!! Wow, two lash-ups of 3 each then-fairly-new SD45's on the outside, and the middle one has a GP35 trailed by THREE SD24's!! Awesome stuff.

There are 2 SD24s in the pic.

The quality of this film is amazing! The scene is unbelievably sharp. Awesome lineup too.

The middle train has THREE SD24's trailing. You can clearly see the 4 rooftop air resvs on all three units.

Judging by the side molding and the shape of the rear glass, I believe the Pontiac would be a 61 or 62. Great shot, by the way!

Way cool line up and shot. I thinkin' the Pontiac is a 1959.
Posted by WillT on June 12, 2012
The Pontiac is a '62 Bonneville. '61 had fins and I owned a '63 (which it isn't).

Not that hard to tell the sd24. Not only are the air tanks a giveaway, but the different shape of the earlier style EMD cab is also a giveaway. And just for the record, I'm 15.

I had an Athearn GP35 in this paint scheme when I was about 12 years old. Seeing the scheme again makes me miss my old layout.

Wow! A someday I'll look at the photos I've taken and go "Dang that's an old photo!"

Terrific perspective shot! It has to be one of the earliest and best that I've seen coming out of Clovis.
