WOW! I grew up watching trains on Cal-P in Fairfield (Tolinas) and Suisun since I was 12 years old in 1989. Not one time during the early to mid 90's did I EVER see a SP GE locomotive! I even went to Vanden High School, where I could watch the Cal-P while at school. I remember being in class many times when I could hear a heavy drag come through and the power coming out of transition as it slowed while the engines were in #8. I had to get my dad to take me to Tehachapi and Cajon to see GEs on the UP and Santa Fe. Never saw any SP GEs down there either. GEs were weird and foreign and not very popular back then. Tunnel motors and Cadillacs always made me drool, and still do to this day. Steve, luck was on your side back in October of 97! Nice catch.
