Please note that both GP-16s have the rather novel at the time Strobe Lights, mounted on small mounts above the leading edge of the cab roof. The strobes proved to not be long lasting. The GP-16s were to be just the opposite as many are still serving today. Some of R. J. Corman's GP-16s still serve and are easy to spot as SCL units due to the strobe light supports.

Interesting points, Bill. I always thought it was odd that the FL B30-7s had strobes (at least some of them) but I don't know if any of the B23-7s purchased about the same time had them. 5112 doesn't have strobes in this shot.
