Those IC passenger trains were awesome, especially at high speed. As a native Memphian, I would see these trains near the Millington Naval Air Station (north of Memphis) going 90 mph - racing across the landscape. The visceral experience of seeing and hearing these gorgeous trains contributed greatly to my life-long affection for railroading. Thanks for posting this classic shot!

One of the nicer childhood memories I have is riding the IC with my parents from our hometown to Chicago and back, and even to New Orleans once! Wonderful photo here. And look at the fallen flags on all those boxcars.
