Beautiful shot. Is the speed limit for all trains using this viaduct 10 mph? Just curious.

And this time, you didn't have to jump immediately on a plane to Reno! Seven come Eleven, Baby!!!!!

Awesome scene and perfect subject placement. Bridge shots don't get much better than this!

I'll second Jim's comment, in fact, I'll second everyone's comment - great shot!

Thanks for the compliments everyone! For the record there were two other photographers up on the hillside overlook keeping me company until the train showed up. My one and only previous opportunity to photograph a train on this bridge was the very same UP Heritage E9's and associated business cars in Sept 1993. However, as BEK noted, time was running short to catch a plane to Reno to commit some sin so I started walking down the hillside back to the car. Of course doing that immediately summoned the train to arrive and traverse the Joso bridge and as a result of me breaking my set, I got a somewhat less appealing photo than the one above. Thankfully I was able make things right, 19 years later!

Transverse ripples in the water between bridge supports...possible vibrations from the passage of the Special?
