Interesting photo which raised some questions. We used to use Babbitt (metal) for large industrial bearings so when you mentioned an ore train in Babbitt, Minnesota I didn’t think the cars were being loaded with Babbitt. Per Google, I was right in thinking that Babbitt is an invented formulated alloy and not a mined commodity.
