As a kid I remember watching those Southern passenger trains passing through our town four times a day. Two East-West in the morning. Two East-West in the evening.

Ron; Phil Ragland and I caught these engines in the Louisville ICG yard on their way to VMV in Paducah for rebuild before going to the NJDT. We were so excited to see and photograph them, and it was great fun sitting in the engineers seat just wondering about all the miles they had covered.

It's nice to see a picture of a Southern E8 before the air reservoirs were relocated to the roof and dynamic brakes were added.
