One thing I like about the steam engines of the UK is they are all smooth sided-no piping on the outside.

Has the parallel boiler too. I absolutely love British steam, despite being an American born about 15 years after the official end. Great interesting photo of a fine class of locomotive.

Another terrific photograph from Kenneth. With a new build in the pipeline, hopefully not too many years will pass before we see a 'Patriot' gracing our railways again. With regard to the repairs, I'll warrant the whole job was sanctioned the previous day, started early the following morning and completed by evening with a pint and a pie at the 'local' for lunch. These days, the paperwork and tendering process alone would take months. Note the casual stance of three of those time-seasoned workmen, to whom working on such precarious perches were a matter of daily routine. Keep 'em coming Brian.
