These large center cabs were built for Ford Motor Company. Ford numbers 1000 & 1001 built in 1937 "note the grilles on each end of these units, were designed to resemble the Ford automobile grills of the day". Numbers 1002-1005 built in 1939, and 1006-1007 built in 1940. All but one number 1005, went to the Wellsville, Addison & Galeton. The source for the above info is The Second Diesel Spotters Guide of 1973 by Jerry A. Pinkpank Kalmbach Publishing Co. Pages GE-148 and GE 149 with photo of Ford #1000.
