I don't know why i've never noticed this until now but it the C40-8 seems to have the exact same trucks as the emd's. I'm sure there are differences but they look the same.

There are significant differences, but if I'm not mistaken some were cast by the same foundries (I think one might have been LFM in Atchison, KS, I know they did both GE 3 axle trucks and EMD 4 axle trucks).
