EMPUJE, hombres! Great shot, Carlos. I believe this GE unit dates back to the days of Alco/GE partnership. Should have a 6/261C Alco inline of about 900-1200 hp? Similar units ran in Uruguay, Congo and the WP&Y in Alaska. Also double enders (!) in Indonesia; not sure if the Indonesian units had Alco power plants though. Anyone know?

Please note the people at the far left and also the one at the far right, this is an "Armstrong Turntable" which gives a human interest to this wonderful photograph.

Thank you very much for your kind comments. I can tell you that these locomotives came to Chile in the año1954 about to replace steam engines with a total of 17 locomotives dragging passenger trains and freight, they are rated at 1750 hp, they have the emblem of General Electric. There is currently only one locomotive in service and another almost ready to return to the tracks.      greetings.

Malcolm - yes the Indonesian units did have ALCO power units (12-244s I think). The Uruguay and Chile units are also 12-244s IIRC.
