I guess I am getting old. A crane built in 1991 doesn't sound like it should be ready for the scrapyard.

This is such an odd sight! I can comprehend the scrapping, but the cribbing under the out-riggers seems a mystery. If the trucks were missing it would be easier to understand; but why not scrap it on the ground. Weird!

At first, I didn't think it was being scrapped, but the torch cut boom was the key piece of evidence for me, other than it being on a shredding facility. I got the builders date from a Burlington Northern Yahoo group, so it may not be accurate, but it matches up in a series of crane numbers so it was likely built after 1990.
