If it's running over the N&W between Narrows and Roanoke Eastbound, that would warrant extra power and explain this.

This is on the former Virginian at "Riverside". The former N&W double track main is just out of site, to the left of the white house. I'm really enjoying your early NS shots from around Roanoke! Hopefully you have many more left to post!
