As somebody who formerly scrapped locomotives, I find it odd that they would tip them on their sides like that. We always cut the carbodies off, stripped the components off so we had a bare frame, and then pieced up the frame and trucks last. I wonder if this was done to clear the tracks or salvage the trucks.
