Glad to see this one get in the data base. It's a worthy addition to an already impressive collection of Mitch Goldman classic depot shots.

Neat looking building. Some of the RR stations from past decades really stand out for style even today.

The station was designed by Thomas Ustick Walter, the renowned architect who designed the dome of the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C. At the time this station was built, the US flag had only 37 stars!

Ah, cool. Thanks for the info. You know, that point about the stars; think it is so easy to forget that what we have now is not what has always been. There was a time that more about this land was unknown than known. And, as we do seem to grasp even in spite of not truly intuitively comprehending the above, the railroads had their part to play in filling in the knowledge of this land.

The stonework on this building is the same stones on other stations and former stations on the Bel Del. Milford Station and the former Warren Station in Trenton had the same stones as this one and they were all quarried a few miles away from this picture.
