Nice, I used to watch these and other ATSF freights going through Mesilla Park NM about 30 miles north of El Paso when I was a kid. Always had fun power, F units, Alcos you name it. Thanks for posting the shot.

I enjoy how there are many of those styled buildings still around. The depot at Panhandle, TX comes to mind.

Markus, that is the MU receptacle. The cover door is open, making it look like a hole. In latter years, the closing springs on these covers were weak or broken allowing the wind to force the covers open. This was very common to older F-units and can be seen in many photographs.

Love your oldies from the Santa Fe. Taken on my 8th birthday. I just wish I would've traveled west to see the Santa Fe back in the day.
