Those engines STILL give me nightmares from the days the were assigned to Washington Terminal. Not great engines by the time we got them, but boy would they have been great in WWII as destroyer escort generating smoke screens!!!

Please note the extra small window below the right front window which allows a crewman riding the right front step to be visible to the operator. The short nose and high mounted cab made these very hard to inter from the left front. Crews soon found that using the rear steps and walking to the cab was much easier.
