"New train smell". A train should never have a new car smell! Looks roomy, and almost modern, though still lacking that Japanese style warp around console. Thanks for the insider's inside view.

I refuse to run it until Siemens removes that layer of haze that covers all four windshields. It's bad.

In a few days someone will take a sharpie and write "602" on every square inch of the cab interior, as is Amtrak tradition.

The cab layout was heavily influenced by Amtrak engineers. A wrap around console wouldn't be too safe in my mind as an engineer needs to get out of the seat quick if there's dislodged freight on an adjacent track or something else about to go through the windshield.

It is every railroaders tradition to sharpie everyting in that cab,not just Amtrak,you should see the BNSF units!
