Kudos to URHS for their fine work. I've often wondered if a GG1 could be made operational, by substituting internal electrical gear (transformers, rectifiers, controls, etc.) from a retired E60 or AEM7. They are more compact than those originally in the GG1. Both those later models have DC motors, so the final transmission could probably remain intact. Just wondering...
