:-( what a poor looking thing! There seems to be no engine in the remains of the loco, although I don't see a space big enough for it to have been removed in one piece! Did the real ones sound like the Proto 2000's model ones ?

E units had two prime movers (engines). Both appear to have been removed, if he had take a pic from the other side, you could see where they were removed from.

The roof has removable hatches, look closely and you can see little rings on the roof used to lift the hatches. That way large components can be installed or removed. Not sure if this one was rebuilt, sister unit 292 was.
