Back in 1989 at the age of 11, I visited this railroad with my dad and his friend. My dad's friend knew the engineer on the train, and halfway back to the station from the turnaround spot, the engineer told me to hop up in the engineer seat and gave me his glove. He had me notch the throttle back a few times. We got to a grade crossing, and before the engineer could tell me what to do, I reached up and blew the correct whistle sequence. As my dad liked to say,"I thought the cre was going to jump out of the cab they were so surprised!" One of my favorite childhood memories!
