I sure love those CNW SD40-2's sure look sharp even all faded!

The lead unit is in the Zito safety yellow scheme. This was a repaint from the original scheme, and unfortunately, the yellow used tended to fade to an almost 'whitewash' fairly quickly. New units in this scheme included SD50s, SD60s and some GE Dash 8 40Cs. The second unit is still in the original scheme, and CNW went back to that in the early 90s with later Dash 8 40Cs and their Dash 9s, along with some repainted GPs and SDs. Their last scheme included the larger numbers on the hood like the Zito scheme and a logo on the nose.

Bill, what type of speed could trains make after the FRVR took over? Did they keep everything up to par or was it all 10mph?

I don't have much info on FRV. I suspect they did better than 10 mph, and today some of the line is CN mainline. The old CNW system timetable from late 1972 rated Butler-Fond Du Lac at 40-50 mph max. depending on the mileposts. Top speed Fond Du Lac to Green Bay was 40 mph, with plenty of slower areas along the way. By Comparison, Butler-Green Bay via Manitowoc was 50 mph.
