Do you know what will happen to the SD70M-2's once they leave FEC?

Why are they getting rid of the 70M-2's ? Lease is up?

Why would they get rid of their newest power and not older GP40s and SD40s?

The word is (remember this is not official and I am not speaking for the RWY) the FEC is going to get much better fuel efficiency with the GEVO's and a better deal on parts and maint. All the SD70M-2's are leased and will be returned when GE demo's arrive by March, though the CITX motors may hang on. All 24 should be delivered by the end of the year. The other locomotives in the fleet will likely handle locals and turns.

Give me the EMD's over the light bulbs any day.

Update - word is that the GE demos are not coming and we will be running with EMD's until the end of the year when the new orders from GE arrive.
