Afraid I wasn't smart enough to follow it. Even though I'd been watching trains about 10 years at this point, it still hadn't occurred to me to follow a train, even on a line like this, that was bound to be downgraded or lost.

Did you also photograph the diesel on this bridge? Was the caboose subbing for the heavyweight coach/cab 169 or 170 that day or had those coaches already been retired from Macon Road service? I grew up near Thomson/Camak during '60/70s an left for college on the fall of 1980, so missed the death of the branch line and mainline mixed trains.

Last time I saw the coach on this train was at Camak in the late 1970s, but I was not able to visit the area much, so don't know anything for sure. Have submitted shot of power on bridge, but it is flat scan of a print, so may not make it past RP panel. Will try to find time to dig around for slide for to make better scan.
