I know this is several years too late, but to respond to Hubei who asked: "What is a timberlined tunnel? Is it lined with wooden planks?" - YES! It is a tunnel that is shored up with wooden beams, similar in size to a railroad tie, to protect the tunnel from cave-ins. A rather sturdy and inexpensive way to protect the tunnel, but costly in the long run due to the wood rot and eventually needing replaced often depending on rate of deterioration, as well as being susceptible to fires - as evidenced in this photo.
