Interesting... Is there no track time here??? This could be solved in about 30 minutes with a MK IV tamper, broom, and stabilizer!

Chris; yes, these guys have track and time. And as I mentioned, this slipping is a chronic problem to the point where the track moves like this every day. In the past, tampers have been used, only to have this slippage show right back up. These guys were just there to make the track passable for Amtrak and a few other trains that morning. The contractors brought in that day are more long term, with the goal of finding and fixing the problem, which is apparently much deeper than track level inside the fill.
