Wow, what a substitution! Seeing a second-gen EMD in a consist back then was not uncommon, even after the massive influx of Espee GEs, but seeing one /leading/ newer GEs is fantastic. Simply 'Grande! A real testament to the rugged design of the EMD 40-series is the fact they swapped the modern AC4400CW one-for-one for that veteran SD40T-2... ...And the train successfully made the climb over Soldier Summit!
