Aerodynamic bullet nosed design built necessity aside - This is one "ugly" train. I still think it's disappointing to know that Europe, Asia, and Australia still appreciate their passenger trains and here in the U.S. we can't even get the ONLY passenger train service we have to operate or function properly and timely. Oh that's right, it's a Government controlled railroad - that's why.

If a Shinkansen went from New York to Los Angeles in a straight and level line at top speed it would still take like 14 hours! Japan is the size of California, and Europe can fit in my backyard. Past a certain point, passenger rail isn't profitable and it doesn't make sense.
