My first trip to Cajon, 4 years after this photo, in July 91, I was 15 years old. My dad took me on a 1 week trip to So Cal so I could watch trains and he could 4WD in the desert in his 89 Jeep Wrangler Sahara. A match made in heaven! Our first night there we camped in the spot right above the 5379's cab where the two green trees are. I saw my first GP60B at 4 in the morning. I was so excited i didn't sleep the entire week and saw trains run by me like I saw in my dreams. It still seems like a dream to me today. We spent the rest of the time camped above Sullivan's Curve, which, if we were in the same spot today, we would be in the air. Donner Pass was a three hour drive from the bay, but Cajon and Tehachapi were on another planet to a young teenager in the pre internet days. Thank you Sid for posting this. It almost brings tears to my eyes with the rush of memories. Your photo is exactly as I picture it in my mind and my dreams to this day.
