Seems odd to tow 3751 when it's already hot. Why not let it run down there itself?

Not really. They would have had to back it for 22 (or so) miles, which would be difficult. As it was, with no ditch lights on the rear of BNSF 8357, the move was restricted to 30 miles per hour as it was.
