I was fortunate to have a cab ride 30 years ago last month on a ferry trip from Norfolk to Crewe. I got on board at Petersburg for the remainder of the trip to Crewe. Unlike the excursion trips with the crowded cabs, I was the only visitor that afternoon. I was able to watch Engineer Frank Collins and Fireman Jack Taylor very closely.
