Very well done, sir. Mr. Clegg would have approved.

Awesome! You made it look like it comes straight out of a Lucius Beebe book
Nicely worded comments and excellent photo! For the several times I saw or rode behind the 611 back in the 1980's, I only saw one volcanic plume like this myself - definitely an awesome site. I still remember the voice coming over the scanner when it happened, "611 - give two short blasts and pull up to the crossing". The next thing I saw was the 611 beginning to move with a huge monstrous plume. Thanks for sharing this gem of a photo!
So much better in B & W too!
If you slipped this into a reprint of one of Beebe's books, nobody would know that the photo wasn't one of his. Nicely done!
Perhaps the best photo of the 611 taken since its most recent career began.

Awesome Dennis!

Mr. Peabody & Sherman are stuck in the present awaiting return of thier Wayback Machine. Awesome shot - well scene and well captured!
Wowsers! That's my new word for all things beautiful and noble, which this image is. It has that nitty gritty feel of real steam hard at work. Great use of the light and of B&W. And your composition minimizes the all too common intrusion of the details of todays railroad technology.

How did I miss this amazing shot the first time? Superb, stupendous, amazing...they don't do this shot justice.
I am still dumbfounded that this image has not gotten more hits!
Congratulations on PCA #13, Dennis! You've definitely done this one the hard way, pulling it off with a black and white, vertical steam shot. I went back 900 PCAs....4 1/2 years....and couldn't find another single example of anyone doing that. Quite an accomplishment and a real shot of confidence for the steam shooters here. Nice job!
