How long have these been here? I've said it before and I'll say it again, I am amazed how railroads just abandon stuff and let it sit somewhere sometimes for years. A site like this could be dangerous, what if children wandered in there, somebody could fall in one of the hoppers get hurt and no one would ever find them.

Good point made I agree but this is a railway yard , cars needing repairs or scrapping are taken off the main and possibly fixed or scrapped thus preventing a possible derailment by somebodies home in the middle of the night or oil train derailing off a bridge into a river killing mass wildlife, not to mention people ,oil trains rolling at a good click under cities in the middle of the day with highly flame able cargo. Safety Firsts the ticket !

I'm surprised they have left that many class tracks in place. The yard has been abandoned for what, 30 years? The Chessie-Seaboard merger made the yard pointless
