Yards I walked as a clerk on RDG and B&O around Phila. were nothing compared to the vastness here.

There are actually 6 "Yards" condensed into this facility. From left to right, The two main tracks, the "F Yard" followed by the "D yard, or Departure Yard; then the "C yard", formally the Hump Bowl; the the "A yard, Arrival" and then all the way on the right is the Inter modal "Strip." Out of view is the West Yard.

I worked there when there were 70 hump yard tracks. The "interesting" job was the skateman, 2 on each shift, low and high side, working that at night was a little scary at first as you would scour for skates to hold the cars coming down the hump crossing tracks being coupled and watching for cars rolling along. Not a job you hear much about.
