George, I am enjoying all of your vintage shots of Willow Creek, and thank you for sharing them! I "stumbled" upon this interlocking one evening quite by accident way back in the spring of 1977, and I decided to stop in and visit with the operator. Considering it was after dark, I wasn't sure how the operator would respond to my unannounced visit, but after I told him I was a Conrail employee, he was very friendly and we talked for an hour or so. I don't remember seeing any trains, but I'm still glad I stopped to visit. A recent visit to the Monon Connection Museum (located just north of Monon, Indiana) brought back my memories of Willow Creek. At some point, the owner of the museum (Mr. Dale Ward) acquired the "Willow Creek" cast iron sign and the model board from the tower. Had anyone told me during my visit 40 years ago that I'd see "relics" from this tower, in a museum, in Monon, Indiana, in 2017, I would have surely been skeptical and probably laughed! If you (or anyone else) are interested in seeing my photos of both the sign and the model board, please send me a message through this site. And finally, I hope you will continue to share photos of Willow Creek and other places from northwest Indiana!
