Nick - nice capture of the Steam locomotive passing the old Haydenville Depot - which sits across the track from the original site of the Haydenville Brick Company. Peter Hayden was the founder of the Brick Company that bore his name as well as the founder of the town named after him as well.
Haydenville, OH houses were built entirely from the bricks that the company made, and the Church in town was the "Showcase" that incorporates EVERY TYPE of brick that the company made as well. There is also a round house in Haydenville that is the only one surviving of nine such houses ever built out of Silo Bricks that farmers would order to build their silos to store grain or corn in. Haydenville Brick Co. supplied the paving bricks for 90% of Columbus, OH streets, they were used to build the Terminal Tower in Cleveland, OH, and even the National Biscuit Company (NABISCO) building in Atlanta, GA was originally built from Haydenville Bricks. Not only were the bricks used in building homes and other buildings, but many sewer systems and drainage channels were made from and lined with Haydenville Bricks. By the way - this Columbus, Toledo & Hocking Valley Depot is currently undergoing a long restoration and rebuild to one day provide a "point-to-point" operation and Ticket Stop/Boarding site for the Hocking Valley Scenic Railroad to board passengers from in the future as well. The entire town of Haydenville, OH is on the National Register of Historic Places and still listed as the ONLY company owned town in the nation as many of the residents are the descendants of employees that used to work in the Haydenville Brick Company and the town never got sold or lost the ownership from the now non-existent company. As far as records for Ohio show even to this day - Haydenville is still owned by the Haydenville Brick Company.
