It's too bad they couldn't turn her around and let her take a run up around the 'Curve'. The short train wouldn't be a problem for a single K4 to make the trip up the mountain. One can only dream!

To be fair, when this photo was taken, 1361 was already limping a wounded #3 driving axle, which had cracked after a hotbox fire was extinguished with cold water near Lewistown in August 1988. While it was repaired enough to allow low-speed, local operations like this, the climb up to Gallitzin was likely feared to be too much unless proper repairs were done. Turning the locomotive wasn't really a problem, as Conrail allowed 1361 to use the turntable at the Juniata Shops after her Bellefonte runs. Given that people will come from another planet to see her pass her old parking space, I wouldn't count westbound runs out in the future.
