Great looking locomotives, Alex. Question - what does ET45AH stand for? Is it E- Evolution T? 45-4,500 HP? A - AC power & H? Just trying to keep up with the descriptions.

E=Evolution Series, T=Tier 4 Emissions compliant, 45 for 4500 HP, A=AC power, H= Heavily Ballasted for more tractive effort. They are about 20 tons heavier than their Catalog Standard.

Steve, you are mostly correct! T stands for Tier 4 certified engine. 45 is 4,500hp. The H stands for heavy, as these locomotives are ballasted from the normal 416,000lbs to to 432,000lbs. There is some uncertainty to the proper naming of these locomotives among the railfan community as they are brand new. I figured the best name for them would be an ET45AH.

I believe it is: E: Evolution Series, T: Teir-4, 4500 horsepower, Ac traction, H:Heavy
