The PRR 'D' class locomotives were designed and built to pull first class passenger trains such as the 'Pennsylvania Special'. After PRR class 'E' and 'K' passenger locomotives were built, the 'D' class locomotives got pushed to secondary trains and short lines. I'll bet this 'D' class lady never thought she'd survive well into the diesel era and end up on a tourist/revenue freight railroad pulling modern freight cars in between tourist passenger train duties. Interesting combination!

Never knew Strasburg used its former Pennsy steamers to pull freights. Nice catch! Got me curious now to dig up some old issues of Railfan or Railpace!
