That chain of far southern Tennessee towns between Monteagle, where Interstate 24 truly enters the Appalachians; Suwanee, home of the University of the South; Cowan, the railroad town partially pictured here; and Winchester, where you start to leave the Appalachian south to enter the mid-south, is fascinating.
