Great image Marty. I spent some time in Sterling about 20 years later. The railroading aspects of NSW had changed greatly (and there weren't any cars as hideous as that Lincoln in your photo parked in the lot) but the atmosphere was exactly the same - dusty, smoggy air filled with the smell of ozone, and men trudging out at shift's end looking like they'd taken a beating.

man, what a great photo! It mostly looks black and white but there is a little bit of color with the cars in the front, and in the clouds, very neat. Is that a bicycle in the background, near the building?

That retired Pullman car must not have been in this location very long, its paint STILL has some gloss to it.
