Is time running out? The "life" of these steel spans in many cases is over a century. As these need structural inspections by railway bridge engineers, railways are replacing many of these with new simpler bridge designs that simplifies inspections and maintenance. In Canada, the Federal Government has been putting a lot of attention to updating infrastructure. My hope is that they are not replaced too quickly, as these are monuments to their designers and those who built them!
