Those would be F7A's since the Santa Fe didn't have FP7's. Neat picture though.

Kinda wild that they ran the "A" units up front elephant style and all the "B"'s in back. Great shot.

They usually tried to have two "A" units facing forward, to minimize any delay should the lead engine experience a problem. If they ran the set "ABBBA," with the second cab facing backward, it would require a turntable or a wye to get the other cab up front in position to head the train. This way, any spur track would enable the necessary switch of engines.
