Nice shot, hideous locomotive. But then I just don't care for double-enders. When did Kiwi go to knuckle couplers? I took pictures in the Christchurch area about 40 years ago and and puzzled at those unique couplers. Lovely place you have their by the way.

New Zealand has had double cab locomotives for many years and all new locomotives since early 1980s have been. The original DF class English Electric was first such diesel. All withdrawn decades ago but EF class electrics from Brush in UK are still in service.
