@Billchor: Iran is a safe country (apart from some border regions where we didn't go). Our biggest concerns were traffic accidents and whether railroad photography would be a problem or not.

Only a few, I'd guess maybe 6 during the day. It's hard to say how many exactly, because timetables are hard to find and change constantly.
