This is the FIRST time I can recall ever seeing an FL-9 working a freight. It's probably happened on occasion but gone unnoticed by anyone who would capture the image. Would NOT be surprised if the New Haven used them on freights at night when they were not needed for commuter runs, as they did with the "passenger" GP9s.
