Winter in Wisconsin! I lived about a block from the belt line in West Allis WI during the 60's and early 70's. Recreating this scene is impossible now as to the right of the picture is a new freeway but the tracks are still used by the UP. Your Grandfather would indeed have seen this being built as it was constructed around 1900. Its 85 and humid today so this is a very nice scene, thanks!

Peter, this train is actually heading west, so the shot is still there, although with a lot more foliage. The new highway runs north-south and is just beyond the visible portion of the coal cars.
