If only it was open like that today. I've missed several trains there by not knowing which track they were going to use and being on the wrong side!!

Really is amazing how little marine container business traveled by rail back in those days, and much of what did rode "piggyback" style mounted to its over the road chassis. Even on this train I can see one riding "piggyback" style further back rounding the corner. In my decade and a half shooting Conrail trains, I only once caught a solid "COFC" freight with every container riding without a chassis attached. Double stacks would change this, but they introduced problems too, mainly clearance issues. To this day they have not adequately dealt with the clearance issues, even on some heavily traveled main lines (witness Norfolk Southern's single track 'alternate' route through the Pittsburgh area that all of its intermodal trains (bar few, since most will now include, if not be mostly, stacks) must still use, necessitated by clearance issues on the main line through Pittsburgh proper).
