Nice shot, and looks to be a relatively neat RDG patch job. They were usually pretty brutal.

I've noted over time, that the "CR patch" jobs that were done in the Reading and Erie-Lackawanna's own home shops were generally very neat and carefully done. Those done on "foreign" locomotives in former PC shops tended to be ( being politically correct here ) "haphazard".
