Most interesting that, from what you are saying, the ACS-64 motor can be operated from the cab of the diesel. Great idea, but who would have ever anticipated the need to do it.

It was kind of eerie at Lancaster later with the two diesels totally silent and the 145 acting as a kind of cab-control car. Some guy posted a cell phone video on YouTube of the train pulling out, and the traction motor sound of the ACS-64 is very impressive.
